2007-11-09 [Tingis]:
2007-11-13 [Tingis]: i can't cut out my white scanning-backg
2007-11-13 [Linderel]: What is locked? The file? You don't have permissions to edit it?
2007-11-13 [Tingis]: yeah I make a second layer, to select the part I want to delete to make it transparant, and it says the layer is locked (the original one) :S
2007-11-13 [Triola]: Could you take a screen shot of the problem and show us, perhaps?
2007-11-13 [Tingis]: that won't show my problem =S thanks anyway.
isn't anyone here who regularly works with photoshop and knows how to un-lock the layer? or do I have to do it in illustrator? :O
2007-11-13 [Triola]: I regularly work with photoshop, and I have no clue what you mean or what you're trying to do, therefore I suggested the screen shot :P If you mean the background layer, you can usually make it into a regular layer by right-clicking it and choosing "Layer from Background", and if it's a regular layer that is locked, it usually helps to click the black lock above it, but as I didn't understand what you meant, I'm not sure either of those would help :/ sorry.
2007-11-13 [Tingis]: okay, i'll remember that next time, now a friend of mine has cut the picture for me! :D thanks!!
2007-11-13 [Tingis]: aah shit, I guess to have a transparant effect I should have made the background elftown-green.
2007-11-13 [Linderel]: Elftown green wouldn't work for me, I use my own stylesheet. :P
2008-01-04 [itoe]: To get the transparent background from photoshop, you need to have an empty background (with the white and gray checked pattern) and use the "save for web" option and save as a GIF image preserving the transparency.
2008-01-04 [Tingis]: cool!
2008-01-07 [Skydancer]: Or better, save it as a PNG file using the save for web which gives a much higher quality image. :) and be sure to check the use transparency box when you save it.
2008-01-07 [Yncke]: How do I make transparent images? contains a bit of information about png versus gif.
2008-01-07 [Skydancer]: Thank you [Yncke], I knew I had seen a page on it, but could not locate it again. :)
2008-01-07 [Imperator]: Is "error" taken yet? Or am I being stupid because any number of people can use any prompt?
2008-01-07 [Linderel]: Any number of people can use any prompt. :)
2008-01-09 [Linderel]: Does it look like an official contest to you? xD
So, that would be a no.
2008-01-09 [Linderel]: Yes, part of my genius, as it were. :P
